Long Beach Transit is currently recruiting for a Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.

With a total of 470 Bus Operators, we have 228 buses (including standard buses as well as our smaller Passport vehicles, and others) in service at any one time. We plan to continue offering a wide range of transportation options to Long Beach, and to remain ahead of the curve for public transit.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Manager, this position plans and coordinates the facilities and equipment maintenance program and supervises the Facilities Technicians and Custodians for Long Beach Transit..

  • Plans, monitors, trains, disciplines and supervises a staff engaged in the daily cleaning and upkeep of the buildings, structures, grounds and related equipment
  • Coordinates with LBT Managers and Supervisors regarding their needs and priorities for facilities maintenance and repair, and schedules the work accordingly
  • Estimates costs and selects the most cost effective methods of accomplishing the work
  • Monitors records, invoices, permits and contracts with vendors to assure product and equipment specification compliance
  • Serves as point person for onsite audits and visits from the Fire Department, Sanitation Department, SCQMD, Water Department, etc. and interacts with the Safety Officer to assure compliance with local, state and federal maintenance standards and procedures
  • Develops, implements, coordinates and updates a preventive maintenance program and maintains the policies, procedures and/or manuals for repair, upkeep, servicing and other tasks associated with the program, including the equipment.
  • Develops standards, assists in developing schedules, and trains for custodial, grounds keeping and equipment maintenance
  • Identifies needs for materials and equipment, researches and recommends new products and equipment, and requests their acquisition
  • Administers provisions of the Labor Agreement pertaining to the Maintenance Department
  • Uses effective employee communication, training, counseling and appraisal techniques
  • Conducts disciplinary hearings with Human Resources
  • Assists in recruitment and upgrades
  • Prepares reports and correspondence
  • Must be available to work on nights and weekends
  • Takes action to correct and/or report unsafe conditions or actions to the Safety Officer; insures that personal protective equipment is worn when necessary; investigates and reports all accidents and incidents, and issues warnings per disciplinary procedures for violations of company safety and health procedures.

Qualifications

  • Must have the equivalent of graduation from high school and five years of experience in the maintenance or construction of facilities, equipment and grounds, including one year of supervision.
  • A college degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience of facility and/or equipment maintenance are desired.
  • Must have knowledge of environmental and waste management and ability to read meters and gauges.
  • Good analytical, communication and writing skills are required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

Salary Structure

$4,234 - $6,348/month (DOQ) . Long Beach Transit offers an attractive benefit package, which includes vacation, sick and holiday pay along with full medical, dental and vision coverage. We also provide employee assistance, tuition reimbursement, deferred compensation, company paid pension plan and other benefits.
