Responsibilities
Examples of job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Safely operating all types of Long Beach Transit vehicles and equipment to transport passengers over specified routes
Performing pre-trip vehicle inspections before the coach leaves the yard
Patiently exercising customer service skills
Working with disabled passengers
Preparing various reports

2nd 12 Months -- $14.45/hour

5th 12 Months -- $18.07/hour
6th 12 Months -- $19.27/hour
7th 12 Months -- $20.48/hour
8th 12 Months -- $21.68/hour
Next 6 Months -- $22.89/hour
Thereafter -- $24.09/hour
Minimum Qualifications
Include but are not limited to, the following:
21 years of age.
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of public relations and customer service.
Demonstrated regular and successful work history.
Demonstrated excellent driving record.
Read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
Must have a valid CA Class C driving license.
Class 'B' training permit.
Motor Coach Operators are subject to the rules and regulations of the Federal Transit Administration, Federal Motor Carriers Administration, and the Department of Motor Vehicles, among other regulatory agencies. Candidates must be able to pass a job-related/DOT medical exam, which includes drug and alcohol testing. Employment is subject to background checks and verification.
Abilities
An example of abilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ability to obtain a valid Class B, CA Commercial Driver's License with unrestricted Passenger Endorsement and Air Brakes.
Ability to maintain a professional, patient, and courteous demeanor in all situations.
Ability to work safely and to maintain a good driving record.
Ability to follow the instructions of a supervisor.
Ability to come to work regularly; attendance is an essential function of the job.
Ability to work with disabled passengers.
Flexibility to work varying shifts, hours, and days of week at either of Long Beach Transit's facilities; we are currently in service 22 hours a day/7 days a week, 365 days a year.
