Under the direction of the Fleet Maintenance Manager, the Utility Supervisor supervises utility workers in cleaning and servicing buses, service vehicles, grounds, work areas and equipment.

With a total of 470 Bus Operators, we have 228 buses (including standard buses as well as our smaller Passport vehicles, and others) in service at any one time. We plan to continue offering a wide range of transportation options to Long Beach, and to remain ahead of the curve for public transit.
Duties and Responsibilities
More specifically, the individual in this role:
Schedules, assigns and supervises daily vehicle cleaning and servicing work
Maintains vehicle servicing records and prepares maintenance related reports using the computer
Supervises daily fare revenue collections
Monitors condition of vehicles and equipment and reports defects to Maintenance Supervisor
Interprets and administers provisions of the Labor Agreement pertaining to the Maintenance Department
Uses effective employee communication, training, counseling and appraisal techniques
Assists in disciplinary hearings
Assists in recruitments and upgrades
Oversee special project planning & administration
Performs other related duties as necessary for the proper management of the Maintenance Department
Qualifications
Must be able to demonstrate the ability to schedule/assign work, maintain records, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, demonstrate computer skills, counsel/train employees, and interpret and administer a labor agreement.
Experience required in methodology of cleaning and servicing vehicles in a heavy equipment environment.
Diesel mechanic experience a plus.
Previous supervisory experience desired.
Position requires a California Class B license and the availability to work nights and weekends.
A current (within last 30 days) H-6 DMV printout must be attached to the application to demonstrate a safe driving record (no exceptions).
Salary Structure
$3,848.00 - $4,715.00 per month (DOQ). Long Beach Transit offers an attractive benefit package, which includes vacation, sick and holiday pay along with full medical, dental and vision coverage. We also provide employee assistance, tuition reimbursement, deferred compensation, company paid pension plan and other benefits.
