Here's a quick look at the organization you will join: we provide 22x7 public transportation for Long Beach and other neighboring cities. With a total of 470 Bus Operators, we have 228 buses (including standard buses as well as our smaller Passport vehicles, and others) in service at any one time. We plan to continue offering a wide range of transportation options to Long Beach, and to remain ahead of the curve for public transit.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Money Room Supervisor, assists with the counting of fare box money and bus pass sales receipts, prepares fare box system reports, transfers and sets-up fare box system equipment, and maintains a clean environment in the fare box system work area. This is an excellent position for those who prefer steady part-time work with a variety of tasks. Work location site includes LBT properties at 1963 E. Anaheim Street and at 6860 Cherry Avenue in Long Beach.
Uses a high-speed coin sorter, counts, bags, tags and stacks fare box revenue for armored truck pickup.
Counts revenue generated from ticket and pass sales.
Prepares vault reports, bank deposits, fare box exception reports, and other miscellaneous reports.
Performs all necessary housekeeping requirements for the money room, including sweeping, dusting, and orderly arranging of money room equipment.
Observes all rules and regulations pertaining to personnel safety, security of the money room, and fare counting equipment.
Responsible for allocating monthly passes and tickets to sales outlets.
Drives to Los Angeles to drop off tokens and pick up passes at Metro.
Must be available for work each weekday, Monday through Friday. Hours vary between morning and afternoon until completion of duties, usually 6 to 7 hours per day.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Applications must include a current (within 30 days) DMV H-6 printout from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Ability to perform repetitive lifting of 50 pound coin bags, including bending, and stooping.
Must be able to read and write English legibly.
Salary Structure
$11.75/hr. Accumulated hours worked earns paid vacation.
