Training Supervisor
CA - Long Beach

The Training Supervisor is responsible for effectively and efficiently developing, delivering, coordinating and evaluating Long Beach Transit (LBT) training programs. The primary focus is the training of new Bus Operators, providing state mandated refresher training (SMART), verified transit training course classes, and return-to-work/accident retraining programs. In addition, the Training Supervisor develops and delivers training programs for staff.

Responsibilities
- Conducts new Bus Operator training programs to certify and qualify employees for required skills and proficiency levels to become professional Bus Operators
- Determines whether trainees meet qualifications to successfully complete the training program
- Provides training programs that comply with internal procedures and external mandates or regulations
- Develops and delivers classroom curriculum and skills development training programs
- Analyzes performance evaluation tools and recommends/implements improvements
- Develops materials to support training curriculum's (printed media, audio-visual, etc.)
- Coordinates training efforts and maintains class schedules and objectives
- Oversees behind-the-wheel trainers
- Develops and implements processes for maintaining complete, timely, accurate and usable training records
- Provides safety reviews and assessments
- Coaches, counsels, disciplines, and develops employee potential
- Develops and delivers training programs for staff
- Takes action to correct and/or report unsafe conditions or actions to the Safety Officer; investigates and reports accidents and incidents, and issues warnings per disciplinary procedures for violations of company safety and health procedures
- Other duties may be assigned

Education and/or Experience
Combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of approximately four years progressively responsible experience in transit or training. Two years of lead experience preferred. Prior bus operator experience is desirable.
Experience in public transportation buses, behind-the-wheel instruction and classroom training and supervision; demonstrated safe driving skills and good driving record/California Class B Passenger/Air Brakes license, and ability to obtain certifications from the Transportation Safety Institute and Department of Motor Vehicles for California driver license sign-off.

This position is considered safety sensitive and is subject to drug and alcohol testing, including but not limited to pre-employment testing, post-accident testing and random testing under Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol regulations, and U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, 49 CFR Part 40 and Part 655.
