Summary

The Utility Worker accomplishes this by performing a variety of duties related to the cleaning and servicing of coaches, grounds, work areas and other company vehicles and equipment.

Here's a quick look at the organization you will join: LBT maintains a fleet of 228 buses, which includes 60-ft. articulated coaches, a growing number of hybrid gasoline-electric engine coaches, and 30 smaller shuttle coaches. LBT has two operating facilities in the city of Long Beach and has nearly 800 employees.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Fueling, checking water and oil levels of LBT vehicles
• Operating cleaning equipment and cleaning the exterior and interior of coaches
• Removing fare revenue and recording information relating to tasks
• Making bus changes and assisting with road calls
• Sweeping, mopping and cleaning work areas and grounds
• Assisting with furniture and equipment moving and other manual tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• Candidates must be 21 years or older
• Possess a valid California Class C driver's license and an excellent safe driving record with the ability to upgrade to a Class B.
• A current (within last 30 days) H-6 DMV printout must be attached to the application to demonstrate safe driving record (no exceptions).
• This position requires frequent bending, heavy lifting and stooping.
• Some mechanical background or graduation from a qualified mechanical training program is highly desirable.

$17.08 per hour with excellent company paid fringe benefits. Must join Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 1277.
