Manager, Training and Development
CA - Long Beach
Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director/Vice President of Administrative Services, the Training Manager is responsible for directing, developing, and coordinating training and organizational development programs for all employees of Long Beach Transit.

With a total of 470 Bus Operators, we have 221 buses (including standard buses as well as our smaller Passport vehicles, and others) in service at any one time. We plan to continue offering a wide range of transportation options to Long Beach, and to remain ahead of the curve for public transit.
Duties and Responsibilities
More specifically, the individual in this role will be responsible for:

Manages and develops training staff who provide training for Coach Operators, Maintenance Workers, and Staff personnel, including corporate development.

Conducts needs-analysis studies and confers with managers and supervisors to determine training needs. Responds to training requests from Department Managers.

Formulates training policies, programs, and schedules, based on knowledge of identified training needs, company processes, business systems, or changes in services or procedures.

Develops and organizes training manuals, reference library, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials.

Ensures that ongoing programs are updated to reflect organizational, technological, regulatory and other internal and external changes.

Coordinates the development and delivery of training programs by Long Beach Transit personnel and/or outside consultants.

Evaluates external training options, and collaborates with external consultant on organizational development projects.

Compiles data and analyzes past and current year training requirements to prepare budgets and justify funds requested.

Ensures that department supervisors and non-supervisory personnel are made aware of the elements of the safety program, and that those elements are implemented. Ensures that proper safety training is being provided to department personnel, and that employees are working in a safe manner. Provides auxiliary safety training in conjunction with the Safety Department.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Education, Organizational Behavior, or related field preferred, plus five years of supervisory or managerial experience.

Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills essential.

Ability to lead department and organization in training excellence.
-
Good interpersonal relationship skills.
-
Must be able to cover training classes or conduct training as appropriate; hands-on management approach.

Must have a valid California driver's license with exemplary safety record, H-6 printout required.

A CA Class B license with no restrictions and airbrakes is preferred.

Proficient in computer skills, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and audio-visual equipment.

Salary Structure
Grade 12 - $ 4,897 - $5,994 per month (DOQ) with excellent fringe benefits.
