The mission of Long Beach Transit is to provide public transit services that enhance and improve the quality of life for the residents of our community. The Part-Time Data Collector contributes to this mission by collecting data that is used to secure local, state, and federal funding and in the planning of new routes and schedules. Responsible for survey work covering transit service performance and customer behaviors including: tracking on-board boarding/alighting passenger counts, on-street transit connection point checks, and conducting one-on-one passenger interviews. Under the supervision of the Service Development Operations Specialist, Data Collectors provide written and oral summaries of observations, operate electronic data collection equipment, and support the Service Development Specialist in developing survey materials, performing data entry, and offering overall support.
This position offers 25 to 30 hours per week. The collector must be prepared to work at any time Long Beach Transit operates, from the early morning through the late evening, seven days per week. For this particular position the collector will work eight hour shifts Saturday and Sunday, and weekdays as available. This position is excellent for someone desiring a flexible work schedule.
